Hashen Ramanayake checks in for 2024

Duffield CC is delighted to announce the signing of Sri Lankan all rounder Hashen Ramanayake as the club’s overseas professional player-coach for the 2024 season.

The 28-year-old has three years of Derbyshire Premier League and Division One experience, in which he scored a combined 2,892 runs and took 124 wickets for Cutthorpe CC.

As a stylish and powerful top-order batter and prolific swing bowler, Ramanayake will add strength and quality to the club’s first eleven ranks, as well as providing ECB Level Two standard coaching to senior and junior teams.

Hashen currently plays for Panadura Sports Club in the Sri Lankan first-class system, where he has racked up 89 professional appearances since his debut in 2015.

Club Chairman, John Fearnehough commented on how the signing unfolded.

“Hashen was identified by our senior players as an outstanding all rounder, coach, and individual.

“After speaking to him and realising how strongly he shared our vision and desire to bring success across all levels of the club, he quickly became our number one target, and we’re delighted that he’s agreed to join us in 2024.”

The all rounder has also represented his country, turning out for Sri Lanka Under-19s at the 2014 World Cup, as well as playing for the Sri Lanka President’s XI against Ireland in 2019.

Upon putting pen to paper, Ramanayake expressed his delight on joining the club: “I’m really excited to join Duffield, I’ve always enjoyed playing against the club and I’m looking forward to supporting the club both on and off the field,”

“Since I started playing cricket full-time, I’ve been very passionate about my coaching and I hope to help progress both junior and senior teams improve their cricket,” he continued.

We can’t wait to welcome Hashen to Eyes Meadow in April, and see him in action.

Welcome to Duffield, Hashen!
